Thivanka Image House is one of the largest brick buildings in Polonnaruwa built by King Parakramabahu as part of the Jetavanaramaya Complex. It was housed to a Buddha Statue. Surrounding the statue, there are two layered plastered walls. As most of the structures of this era in Polonnaruwa, the Thivanka Image House was built including the statue. Buddha statue at the Thivanka Pilgrimage was about 8 meters in height. The Thivanka Image house has been decorated with frescoes showing the Jataka stories.The entrance to the building is guarded by two “Korawak Gala” it will make the ancient view of that place.
